About Wildlife Provençale

Andrew Hargreaves birdwatching Wildlife Provencale

Wildlife Provençale is an independent wildlife holiday company founded by Andrew Hargreaves of Burnley, England, specialising in regional wildlife tours of Provence in the South of France. We are the regional experts for natural history holidays in this spectacular location with 18 years of highly successful wildlife tours.

We believe that you have worked hard for your wildlife holiday and in return deserve a hard working team who are committed to tailoring your guided natural history holiday to your requirements. We cannot emphasise enough that we are flexible, willing and able to respond to your requests. Perhaps you have an interest in botany or butterflies? Maybe a penchant towards migrant birds or more strenuous hill walking. Let us know! You can be sure we will do our best for you.

The Environment

We are committed to sustainable tourism which will in no way threaten or harm the wildlife we enjoy so much. For this reason we believe it would be unethical to search specifically for some of the more sensitive and vulnerable mammals present in our region, eg. Wolf, Lynx, and Genet.

Your Wildlife Tour Leader

Andrew Hargreaves will be leading the tours with a maximum size of eight. Andy has a degree in Environmental Science and has worked in Provence reintroducing Griffon vultures to the Baronnies. As well as studying Griffon behaviour and ecology, Andy has taken part in scientific surveys of Beaver, Chamois, Ibex, Bats, Lammergeier, Tengmalm’s; Scops and Eagle owls, Little Bustard, Pin-tailed Sandgrouse, Bonelli’s and Golden Eagles. He’s built up an extensive network of contacts with local peasant farmers and conservationists.

Andy maintains that our close proximity to some of the world's finest wines (Chateauneuf-du-Pape, Gigondes, etc.) in no way influences our itinerary, (but it could if you insist!).
